It has been established that successful psychotherapy depends upon the interaction between therapist and patient – the Therapeutic Relationship. However, Attachment paradigms and personality psychopathology may often create complexities in the relationship that create additional difficulties for the therapist to contemplate.

In this seminar we will elaborate on these complexities and discuss the attitudes required to negotiate empathically, and in a trauma-informed manner as in the Conversational Model, so as to avoid premature drop-out, irregular attendance and sometimes impasse.

The seminar will be clinically oriented and there will be ample time left for discussion.

Location  Sydney University New Law School Annexe Seminar Room 342
Joan Haliburn and Michael Williamson will present this joint seminar at Sydney University on 23 March 2019.
