Dreaming in the Conversation
1pm - 4 pm

Workshop Flyer

In this workshop we will consider the role of dreams particularly in the context of transference and countertransference within the therapeutic relationship. Taking a Jungian perspective, we will review the foundations of working with dreams and explore how to engage with dreams that clients may bring.  Sometimes clients can quite rightly have mixed feelings about sharing dreams that may feel exposing, just as therapists may be reluctant to hear some dreams and so we will explore some barriers and limitations to working with dreams.

Dreams of both therapist and client contribute to the therapeutic conversation. Therapists may be shy about sharing overt dreams about clients with their supervisors or resist a supervisor’s attempt to draw attention to transference in reported client or therapist dreams and so we will consider the role dreams may play in supervision. The workshop will be illustrated with case material and allow time for discussion.

Location Wattle Room, Aerial UTS Conference Centre, Building 10, Level 7, 235 Jones Street, Ultimo, Sydney
